Introducing Challan Leaderboard

Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. It’s a collective endeavour to ensure that everybody reaches their destination safely. However, mistakes happen and things don’t always go as planned. You can jump a traffic signal by mistake and you can also mistakenly park at a no-parking zone too, and sometimes, worse. Which brings us to the main topic of the day: challans.

Challan is not only an indicator of bad road behaviour but also a disciplinary reminder to exhibit good road behaviour. But the bigger question is, are you even aware of the number of challans your vehicle has accumulated? When was the last time you went to a website or an app (CARS24 has this feature) to check if there are any pending challans against your car? Or a very simple doubt: do you even care?

These questions (and more) strengthen our resolve to embody our vision of ‘ better drives, better lives ’ more empathically. And if we want the general public to be role models of civic responsibility, then Autonauts (that’s what we call ourselves at CARS24) need to set the right example. It's only fair that we walk the talk first. After all, change begins at home, too.

This mindset nudged us to build ‘Internal Challan Leaderboard’ — we checked traffic violations at our headquarters in Gurgaon. It’s basically a healthy tussle between different teams in CARS24 to encourage good road behaviour. In other words, lesser traffic violations = better road safety.

This is a tiny effort to bring about a positive change in attitude towards (lack of) road safety in India. Through our platform, we hope to play a significant role in making the most of technology to instill good road behaviour. We are only getting started :)
